DC Reboot: What We Know

I’m currently in the process of piecing together what is currently known about the DC Universe Post-Flashpoint. It’s been dubbed the DCnU by some. Can’t say I’m fond of the name, but it’s better than my name: DUR (DC Universe Reboot).

The reboot-verse has been confirmed to take place on the main DC Earth (New Earth), which means that the current version will likely be gone.

Here is what I’ve found so far. I’ve included major changes in continuity, plus bits of trivia I find odd or interesting.

The list is in alphabetical order by subject, with the exception the first two entries.

Comics That Are Still Part of DC History

  • Blackest NightBrightest DayIdentity CrisisDeath in the Family, and Killing Joke.

Future Crisis Crossovers

  • According to Didio, there are no plans for any upcoming crossovers.

  • The “dawning of the age of superheroes” began with the introduction of Superman and the formation of the Justice League. Superheroes were new at the time.

The Atom

  • The Atom is Ryan Choi.

Bat-Family

Birds of Prey

  • Confirmed members: Black Canary and Starling.

Black Lightning

  • Static was chosen over Black Lightning, partially because Black Lightning has two children.

Blue Beetle

  • Will be getting a more “streamlined” origin.
  • It’s very strongly implied  that the previous two Blue Beetles (Ted Kord and Dan Garrett) will no longer exist.

Demon Knights

  • Etrigan and Madame Xanadu are lovers.

Donna Troy

  • Donna Troy is “off the board” because she is considered too similar to Wonder Woman.

Firestorm

  • Jason Rusch and Ronnie Raymond are Firestorm. They are both high schoolers. The solicit seems to indicate this is the first time either one of them was Firestorm.

Flash

Green Arrow

  • Roy Harper is too young to have a child, so Lian never existed.

Justice League

Justice League Dark

  • Confirmed members: Shade the Changing Man, Madame Xanadu, Deadman, Zatanna and John Constantine .

Justice League International

  • The United Nations create the Justice League International team.
  • Confirmed members: Batman, Booster Gold, Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), August General in Iron, Fire, Ice, Vixen and Rocket Red.

JSA

  • DC has “decided to rest this concept while we devote our attention on the launch of the three new Justice League series.” (Dan Didio) I don’t know whether this means the JSA will no longer exist at all, or if the team will be introduced later.

The Outsiders

  • Red Hood (Jason Todd) is the leader.
  • Confirmed members: Red Hood, Arsenal and Starfire.
  • Arsenal has both arms in the cover art.
  • Starfire’s redesigned costume appears to cover less than before.

Static Shock

Stormwatch

  • Stormwatch is now part of the DC Universe.
  • Stormwatch existed in the DCU before superheroes.

The Suicide Squad

  • Confirmed members: Harley Quinn, Deadshot and King Shark.

Superboy

  • Superboy was a “failed experiment” to combine Kryptonian and human DNA. He was created by Project N.O.W.H.E.R.E.

Supergirl

  • Supergirl is Superman’s cousin. She has “none of his affection for the people of Earth.”
  • Kryptonians of different genders are affected differently by Earth’s sun, so her powerset will be different than Superman’s. (How has not been revealed.)

Superman

  • Superman first became a superhero 5 years ago.
  • Superman & Lois were never married.
  • Superman is a bachelor. Lois is dating an unnamed co-worker.
  • Ma and Pa Kent are dead.

Teen Titans

  • Confirmed members: Red Robin (Tim Drake), Wonder Girl (Cassie Sandmark), and Kid Flash (Bart Allen). The team will also include “a few other tortured teen heroes.”
  • Wonder Girl is a “mysterious and belligerent powerhouse thief.”
