Infinity Inc.: The Generations Saga Vol. 1
The first (and hopefully not last) volume of Infinity, Inc. is going to be released in June. No, not the recent Infinity, Inc. series. The original Infinity, Inc. (The good Infinity, Inc.)
The original Infinity, Inc. were the children and proteges of the Justice Society. The series ran for 4 years (1984-1988). It was well-written, with good art and complex characters. It also introduced two of my favorite characters: Brainwave, Jr. and Mister Bones.
I bought the entire run of Infinity, Inc. on eBay, and I’ve never regretted it. It was before my time, but it definitely holds up. The characters are three dimensional, the villains are interesting, and there’s a lot of well-written drama.
Justice Society fans will recognize many of the characters: Power Girl, Nuklon (later renamed Atom Smasher), Silver Scarab (who later became Dr. Fate), Hourman, Obsidian, Jade . . . not to mention the members of the Justice Society, who appear on a regular basis.
I’ll admit that part of my excitement comes from the fact that I prefer to collect TPBs rather than individual issues. While this may be heresy for comics collectors, I buy my comics to read them, not to have them sit in sleeves never to be touched again. I’m definitely buying this when it comes out. I’d highly recommend it to JSA fans, as well as fans of 80s era comics.
